About us
Wheatcroft Preschool Playgroup is a community-based group administered by a committee of parents.
We are a member of the Early Years Alliance and registered with the Charity Commision.
Our aims
- To provide high quality care and education for children below statutory school age.
- To work in partnership with parents and other professionals to enhance the development and education of children.
- To add to the life and wellbeing of the local community.
- To offer children and their parents a service that promotes equality and values diversity.
For the most up to date fees please email . Minimum session is three hours (9am-12pm or 1pm-4pm). A variety of sessions are available within our opening times.
- 15/30 hour government funding is available for eligible children. Please see the Manager for more information.

Mrs Brewer - Green Team
Preschool Assistant/ SENCO
Mrs Brewer has 28 years experience in working with children, most of these have been at preschool. Mrs Brewer has her NNEB and has recently gained her Level 3 in SEN.
Mrs Marshall - Yellow Team
Preschool Assistant
Mrs Marshall has 13 years experience in working with children and has been at preschool 6 years. She has a Level 3 Qualification and also does Yoga with the children at preschool.
Miss Campbell - Blue Team
Preschool Assistant
Miss Campbell has got 9 years experience working with children and has been at preschool for 4 years. She has a BA (Hons) in Early Years and has also carried out speech and language training.
Mrs Campbell - Blue Team
Preschool Manager SENCO/ Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
Mrs Campbell has 29 years experience in Early Years and has been at Preschool for 14 years. She has a BA (Hons) and Early Years Professional Status and has experience across a wide range of subjects relating to under 5s.
Mrs Ainsley - Red Team
Deputy Manager & Deputy DSL
Mrs Ainsley has been at Preschool for 19 years. She has a BA (Hons) degree in Early Years and is Level 3 trained in Speech and Language.

The Early Years Foundation Stage
The provision for children's development and learning is guided by the Early Years Foundation Stage (2021), taking into consideration Development Matters (2021), Birth to 5 Matters (2021) and OPAL (Observing Play and Learning). Our provision reflects the unique child, positive relationships and enabling environment. Children are assessed regularly using the above documents in the following areas

Our Provision
At Wheatcroft Preschool, we have a well-organised indoor provison and extensive outdoor area. We follow the children's interests through ‘In The Moment’ planning. Our core provision includes the following opportunities:
Extra activities
Throughout the year, we fundraise and use EYPP to provide of additional activities - for example ...
Visits to the local schools for events such as their Nativity and also for school transition.
Zumba sessions with a local Zumba Instructor for the oldest children in the Summer term.
On of our staff members is a keen Yoga enthusiast and we have Yoga mats so we can do this with the children
We have caterpillars ordered for the Summer Term and do this most years
As our ratios are higher than usual we often enjoy adventuring on a Thursday afternoon

Uniform
Our uniform is not compulsory but if you would like to purchase, please see a member of staff.
Funding
From September 2024 all children aged 9
months and over will receive 15 hours
funded place. Although we cannot take
children until the term of their 2nd birthday
we can still access the 9m funding
2 Year old funding is available for some
children, whether you are a working family
or get some kind of government support
All children get 15 free hours the term after
their 3rd birthday and those with working
parents can apply for up to 30 hours.
